UGC made simple: how to get customers to create content for you
User-generated content builds trust like nothing else. Here’s how to encourage customers to post about you, and how to share it the right way.
User-generated content, or UGC, is any content your customers create about your brand: photos, videos, reviews and unboxings. People trust it because it comes from real customers, not from you.
How to get more UGC
- Ask. Many happy customers are glad to share, they just need a nudge.
- Make it easy. Add a card in your packaging with your handle and hashtag.
- Create a moment. A beautiful unboxing or a photo-friendly corner in your shop invites people to post.
- Run a simple challenge with a fun theme and a small reward.
- Reshare and thank people. When customers see others featured, they want to join in.
How to use it
- Reshare in Stories and save the best in a Highlight.
- Feature customer photos in carousels.
- Use customer videos, with permission, in your Meta ads. They often feel more natural than studio content.
Do it the right way
- Always ask permission before sharing someone’s content.
- Credit the creator by tagging them.
- Get written permission before using customer content in ads.
